The investigative activity conducted by the Hematology and Related Disorders Research Center has been awarded with important distinctions such as:

The CIHATA received this award thanks to a study conducted by Dr. Germán Sáenz on hemoglobinopathies in Costa Rica.

The CIHATA received this recognition for contributing to Costa Rican society with the project called "Detection of the BCR/ABL Transcript in the Diagnosis and Follow-up During and After Treatment of Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia by the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (Rt-PCR)".

The Ombudsman's Office gave this award to the CIHATA for providing support to sickle cell patients in Costa Rica.

The Ombudsman's Office gave this recognition for the work carried out by Clínica de Memoria y Envejecimiento (Memory and Aging Clinic in English) in the San Juan de Dios Hospital and the CIHATA of the University of Costa Rica in collaboration with an interdisciplinary group of professionals.
