Current Projects
Through the management of several social action projects, the CIHATA seeks to strengthen the relationship between the University of Costa Rica and the Costa Rican society to put at the service of the population the knowledge our professionals have acquired through years of experience while developing in their research areas. That is why our center develops projects in different communities and populations in order to promote learning and self-management of health processes.
The goal of this project is to provide our health personnel with the possibility of maintaining permanent training as well as to be aware of the newest findings in hematology studies through virtual or onsite training.
This project aims to contribute to Costa Rican society regarding health issues by conducting special tests that help diagnose different pathologies. In addition, it supports the general public, health personnel, patients, and family members in the service given in the specialized consultation areas.
The objective of this project is to have better data about sickle cell disease as a public health problem in Costa Rica by providing training and information to the general public, patients, family members, and health personnel about this disease.
This project aims to provide updated knowledge at a theoretical, clinical, and diagnostic level to professionals, students in the health field, and other professionals allied to the diseases and specialized techniques investigated at the CIHATA to promote a deeper and better understanding of the topics, pathologies, tests, techniques, and reports generated.
This is a social health project that organically helps populations in need of priority attention (child population, population with lower human development index, and/or vulnerable population) through the collaboration with public and private national institutions of specialized laboratory services that cannot be optimally provided, by said institutions, because of their level of complexity, execution, and specialization. Besides, teaching on the understanding and explanation of the services provided to the target population and collaborating health personnel is also covered for a better application of these new technologies for an improvement in patient management and care.
This project aims to strengthen the relationship between the University of Costa Rica and the Costa Rican society in the field of public health from various points and themes. First, it is intended to guide the health personnel about certain regions that, due to their geographical location and epidemiology, are populations vulnerable to pathologies historically studied at CIHATA or that are only studied in the metropolitan area. Also, this project seeks to establish links with other social action projects that are developed in these areas in order to optimize human resources and address the problem from a comprehensive and multidisciplinary perspective. Finally, it is intended to approach the population and health personnel directly by disseminating the knowledge obtained from the applied clinical research to offer specialized testing services with their respective guidance to get a correct interpretation. This is to promote the collaboration where the University of Costa Rica, as part of the health system, provides information to patients and health personnel and shows and sensitizes the national authorities of the need that these populations have in the improvement of access to health services equally.
